Responsibility
- Process customer purchases accurately and efficiently using the modern point-of-sale (POS) system while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor.
- Provide outstanding customer service by greeting every guest, answering product questions, and proactively resolving any issues or concerns.
- Handle cash, credit, debit, and digital payments securely, ensuring proper change is given and receipts are issued.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked checkout area to ensure a pleasant shopping experience.
- Assist with bagging groceries, carryout services, and retrieving shopping carts as needed.
- Proactively promote our Fresh Perks loyalty program, seasonal specials, and new product arrivals to drive customer engagement and sales.
- Collaborate with team members and management to ensure smooth front-end operations and efficient customer flow.
- Adhere strictly to all cash handling policies, security procedures, and safety regulations to protect store assets and personnel.
Qualification
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is strongly preferred.
- Previous experience as a Cashier, Retail Associate, or in a customer-facing role is a definite plus.
- Strong mathematical aptitude and effective problem-solving skills to handle transactions and discrepancies smoothly.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills with a warm, approachable demeanor.
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for the duration of an 8-hour shift, and to regularly lift and carry items up to 25 pounds.
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Unwavering positive attitude, a strong sense of teamwork, and a willingness to go the extra mile for customers.
- Basic technical proficiency with computers and prior experience with POS systems is highly desirable.
