Responsibility
- Operate and maintain commercial fishing vessels including gear deployment, navigation, and safety protocols
- Execute sustainable fishing practices in compliance with NOAA and Alaska Department of Fish & Game regulations
- Process and harvest various species (salmon, halibut, crab) using industry-standard techniques
- Monitor weather conditions and adjust fishing strategies accordingly
- Perform routine vessel maintenance and equipment troubleshooting at sea
- Collaborate with crew to ensure efficient operations and onboard safety
- Document catch data and maintain regulatory compliance records
Qualification
- Minimum 3 years commercial fishing experience with documented sea time
- Valid USCG Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with appropriate endorsements
- Strong knowledge of Pacific Northwest fishing grounds and regulations
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in harsh marine environments
- Certification in First Aid, CPR, and survival at sea training
- Proficiency in vessel navigation systems and fishing equipment operation
- Commitment to sustainable fishing practices and conservation ethics
- Ability to work extended shifts (10-14 hour days) in all weather conditions
