Responsibility
- Safely and efficiently operate hydraulic deck machinery including pot haulers, cranes, and sorting lines.
- Process, sort, and store catch according to strict quality control and sustainability standards.
- Perform regular vessel maintenance, safety checks, and emergency drills to ensure a seaworthy operation.
- Assist with navigation watch, lookout duties, and docking procedures under the Captain’s direction.
- Maintain a clean and organized deck and crew quarters in accordance with sanitation guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with the crew during long, demanding shifts to maximize efficiency and catch share bonuses.
- Adhere strictly to all NOAA fisheries regulations, safety protocols, and company sustainability policies.
- Participate in mandatory safety training and drills, including man-overboard and fire response exercises.
Qualification
- Minimum 1+ year verifiable commercial fishing experience OR relevant maritime/military experience (e.g., Coast Guard, Navy, Merchant Marine).
- Valid U.S. Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with an Original or Upgraded Fishing Vessel Drill Conductor (FVDC) endorsement is strongly preferred.
- Current STCW Basic Safety Training certificate or ability to obtain prior to embarkation.
- Physically capable of lifting 100+ pounds repetitively and working in extreme cold, wet, and rough sea conditions for extended periods (18-24 hour shifts).
- Ability to pass a rigorous pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check.
- Unwavering commitment to safety, strong situational awareness, and a positive, team-first attitude under pressure.
- U.S. Citizenship or permanent residency (due to flagged vessel requirements).
- Valid U.S. Passport and clean driving record.
