Responsibility
- Operate and maintain commercial fishing vessels including navigation systems, winches, and safety equipment
- Participate in all aspects of commercial fishing operations: setting nets, hauling traps, and processing catches
- Adhere to strict federal and state fishing regulations and sustainability protocols
- Monitor weather conditions and sea state to ensure safe vessel operations
- Perform routine vessel maintenance and equipment troubleshooting
- Collaborate with crew members to optimize catch efficiency and vessel performance
Qualification
- Minimum 3 years commercial fishing experience with documented sea time
- Valid US Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with appropriate endorsements
- Proficiency in operating hydraulic systems and fishing gear
- Strong understanding of marine navigation and safety protocols
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in harsh weather conditions
- Commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred
- Basic knowledge of seafood handling and preservation techniques
