Oceanic Vanguard Maritime Pte Ltd, a global leader in sustainable container shipping, is actively searching for a highly competent and experienced Ship Captain (Master Mariner) to command our latest generation of ultra-large container vessels. Based in the heart of Singapore's maritime sector, you will hold the highest authority onboard, steering our operations safely through international waters.
This is a flagship role designed for a visionary leader who can combine exceptional seamanship with modern business acumen. You will be entrusted with the safety of our crew, the security of our cargo, and the integrity of our vessels while driving operational efficiency and sustainability.
Responsibility
- Assume ultimate command and responsibility for the vessel, crew, cargo, safety, security, and environmental protection.
- Orchestrate sophisticated voyage planning, navigation, and bridge resource management using cutting-edge ECDIS, ARPA, and GMDSS systems.
- Ensure strict compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, MLC, ISM, and ISPS codes, passing all Port State Control inspections flawlessly.
- Provide inspirational leadership to a multinational crew of up to 30 officers and ratings, promoting a positive and collaborative working environment.
- Oversee all cargo operations, including planning, loading, stowage, and discharge, to maximize port turnaround and revenue.
- Manage the annual operational budget, optimizing fuel consumption, spare parts procurement, and dry-docking schedules.
- Serve as the primary liaison with company headquarters, charterers, port agents, and maritime authorities.
- Mentor and develop junior officers, creating a robust succession pipeline for the company's fleet.
Qualification
- Unlimited Master Mariner (Class 1) Certificate of Competency as per STCW II/2 (endorsed by MPA Singapore or equivalent flag state).
- Minimum 10 years of seagoing experience with at least 4 years as a Master on large container vessels (>10,000 TEU).
- Deep expertise in ISM Code implementation, internal auditing, and Safety Management Systems.
- Exceptional crisis management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Demonstrated experience in vessel performance monitoring and energy efficiency projects.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills (knowledge of Mandarin is a distinct advantage).
- Proven track record of zero major incidents and exemplary PSC performance history.
- Strong digital literacy and adaptability to new maritime technologies (e.g., IoT, Data Analytics).
