Responsibility
- Consult with clients to understand their style, fit preferences, and fabric selections.
- Take precise body measurements and create custom patterns for suits, jackets, trousers, shirts, and overcoats.
- Execute all stages of garment construction: cutting, sewing, basting, fitting, and finishing.
- Perform meticulous hand-finishing techniques including buttonholes, pick stitching, and pad stitching.
- Conduct fittings and make adjustments to ensure perfect drape and balance.
- Alter and repair existing garments to restore them to impeccable condition.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace and manage inventory of supplies and fabrics.
- Mentor junior tailors and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualification
- Minimum 7 years of experience as a tailor, with at least 3 years in bespoke or made-to-measure.
- Expert knowledge of pattern making, grading, and garment construction for suits and outerwear.
- Proficiency in hand-sewing techniques and machine sewing (industrial lockstitch, serger, blind hem).
- Deep understanding of various fabrics (wool, cashmere, linen, cotton, silk) and their handling.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work one-on-one with high-profile clients.
- Strong problem-solving skills for complex fitting challenges.
- Portfolio or work samples demonstrating finished garments required.
- Formal tailoring education or apprenticeship preferred.
