Responsibility
- Perform accurate clinical laboratory tests including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and immunology
- Operate and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment with strict adherence to protocols
- Analyze test results and ensure quality control standards are met
- Document procedures and maintain detailed patient records in compliance with HIPAA
- Collaborate with pathologists and healthcare providers to resolve testing discrepancies
- Participate in continuing education to stay current with laboratory innovations
- Ensure proper specimen handling, storage, and disposal following safety regulations
Qualification
- Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field
- ASCP or AMT certification required (or eligible within 6 months)
- Minimum 2 years of clinical laboratory experience
- Proficiency in operating automated analyzers and laboratory information systems
- Strong knowledge of CLIA, OSHA, and CAP regulations
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration
- Valid Illinois state license (if applicable)
