Responsibility
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests in Hematology, Microbiology, Chemistry, and Blood Bank following established protocols.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain sophisticated laboratory analyzers and instrumentation.
- Analyze and interpret test results, correlating with patient conditions and ensuring timely communication of critical values.
- Conduct quality control procedures, troubleshoot assay discrepancies, and implement corrective actions.
- Process and prepare patient specimens for analysis, ensuring proper identification and chain of custody.
- Assist in training and mentoring new laboratory staff and students.
- Maintain a clean, sterile, and organized work environment in full compliance with safety regulations (OSHA, CLIA).
- Participate in departmental inventory management and reagent preparation.
Qualification
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Current certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the ASCP (or equivalent) is strongly required.
- State of Texas Licensure as a Medical Laboratory Technician (if applicable) or the ability to obtain upon hire.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical laboratory experience preferred; new graduates with robust clinical rotations are welcome.
- Proven proficiency in phlebotomy and specimen collection techniques.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Strong commitment to patient care, accuracy, and continuous quality improvement.
