We are looking for an experienced and passionate Organic Farm Manager to join our leadership team and drive operational excellence.
In this role, you will oversee all agronomic and operational aspects of a 500+ acre farm, manage a diverse team, and implement cutting-edge organic practices. If you have a deep respect for the land, a strong business acumen, and a relentless drive for quality, we want to hear from you.
Responsibility
- Direct daily farm operations including land preparation, planting, cultivation, irrigation, and harvest scheduling to meet strict quality and volume targets.
- Develop and execute comprehensive organic soil fertility and pest management plans (IPM) in full compliance with USDA NOP standards.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a workforce of 20-40 employees, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Manage the farm's P&L, including budget creation, cost control, capital expenditure planning, and financial reporting to senior management.
- Ensure meticulous record-keeping for organic certification, food safety (GAP/GHP), and labor compliance.
- Collaborate with the sales and logistics teams to align production output with customer demand and market opportunities.
- Oversee the maintenance and strategic investment in farm infrastructure, including irrigation systems, equipment, and cold storage.
- Implement innovative agricultural technologies and precision farming techniques to optimize resource use and yield.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or related field; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience in farm management, with at least 3 years specifically in organic production.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the USDA National Organic Program (NOP) standards and organic certification processes.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale vegetable crop cycles covering over 300 acres.
- Strong financial management skills, including P&L accountability and operational budgeting.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with experience in recruiting, training, and performance management of agricultural teams.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required for effective communication with a diverse workforce.
- Valid California Driver's License and practical experience operating and maintaining modern farm machinery.
