Responsibility
- Provide direct patient care for individuals on the medical/surgical unit, including assessment, planning, and implementation of nursing interventions
- Monitor and document patient conditions, vital signs, and responses to treatments accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and adjust patient care plans
- Administer medications, treatments, and therapies as prescribed, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and standards
- Educate patients and their families about health conditions, post-discharge instructions, and self-care techniques
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with hospital policies, Joint Commission standards, and regulatory requirements
- Mentor and support junior nursing staff and nursing students during their clinical rotations
Qualification
- Current, active RN licensure in the State of New York (or compact state license eligible)
- Associate's degree in nursing (BSN preferred); minimum of one year acute care nursing experience required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessment, IV therapy, medication administration, and wound care
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in fast-paced environments
- Ability to work rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Commitment to patient safety, evidence-based practice, and professional development
- Experience with Epic or comparable EHR systems preferred
