Responsibility
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including history taking, physical exams, and vital sign monitoring.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments as prescribed, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and patient rights.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary medical team.
- Monitor and document patient progress, managing acute changes in condition and responding to medical emergencies with life-saving interventions.
- Educate patients and their families on discharge planning, disease management, and preventive health measures.
- Maintain a safe and sterile environment by adhering to infection control policies and proper equipment handling.
- Mentor and precept new nursing staff and students, fostering a culture of learning and clinical excellence.
Qualification
- Valid and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with a commitment to obtain BSN within 3 years considered.
- Minimum of 2 years of acute care or medical-surgical nursing experience.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association.
- Strong critical thinking, assessment, and clinical judgment skills with the ability to prioritize in a high-stress environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for patient advocacy.
- Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, specifically Epic.
- Ability to lift, move, and transfer patients safely (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
