Responsibility

  • Operate Marine Equipment: Safely operate and maintain trawling gear, winches, and deck machinery under the Captain's supervision.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to OSHA and USCG safety protocols, including conducting pre-departure safety checks.
  • Catch Management: Assist in the sorting, grading, and processing of high-value seafood catches to ensure maximum quality and profitability.
  • Vessel Maintenance: Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and minor repairs of the vessel to ensure operational readiness.
  • Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with the deck crew and Captain to coordinate operations during high-pressure fishing seasons.
  • Weather Adaptability: Work efficiently in varying weather conditions and shifting schedules typical of the fishing industry.

Qualification

  • Licensing: Must possess a valid Commercial Fishing License for the State of Alaska.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial fishing or deckhand operations.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy loads (up to 50 lbs) and work on your feet for extended periods in all weather conditions.
  • Training: Current CPR and First Aid certification is highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with navigational charts, safety equipment, and deck winch operations.
