Heritage Custom Tailors is seeking a highly skilled Master Tailor to join our esteemed atelier in the heart of Manhattan's Garment District. With over 40 years of bespoke tailoring expertise, we craft exceptional garments for discerning clientele. As a Master Tailor, you will be at the forefront of our craft, overseeing the creation of custom suits, jackets, trousers, and overcoats. You will work closely with clients to interpret their style preferences and ensure impeccable fit and finish. Responsibility
- Collaborate with clients during fittings to understand their preferences and provide expert advice on fabric selection, style, and fit.
- Draft and adjust patterns for bespoke garments, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design specifications.
- Perform precise hand and machine sewing for suit construction, including canvas work, padding, and finishing.
- Conduct alterations and adjustments to achieve a perfect fit for each client.
- Maintain a high standard of quality control throughout the production process.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
- Mentor junior tailors and apprentices, sharing knowledge of traditional and modern techniques.
- Stay updated on fashion trends and materials to offer innovative styling solutions.
Qualification
- Minimum of 8 years of experience as a tailor in a bespoke or custom tailoring environment.
- Advanced knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, and fitting techniques.
- Proficiency in both hand sewing and industrial sewing operations.
- Strong understanding of various fabrics, including wool, cashmere, linen, and silk.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Communication skills to interact effectively with clients and colleagues.
- Relevant certification or formal training in tailoring or fashion design is preferred.
