Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Ship Captain (Master Mariner) to take full command of our deep-sea vessels operating from the Port of Miami. As the highest-ranking officer, you will be responsible for the safety, security, and efficiency of all vessel operations, crew management, and regulatory compliance. Responsibility
- Take full command and responsibility for the vessel, crew, cargo, and passengers, ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations and company policies.
- Plan and oversee safe navigation, including route planning, weather evaluation, and collision avoidance using advanced bridge systems.
- Manage all deck department operations, including cargo loading/ discharge, anchoring, and maintenance of shipboard equipment.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance management to officers and crew, fostering a positive and safety-focused work environment.
- Maintain rigorous safety and security protocols, including drills, inspections, and reporting in accordance with ISM and ISPS codes.
- Liaise with port authorities, agents, charterers, and shore management to ensure smooth port calls and voyage execution.
- Oversee crew certification, watchkeeping schedules, and administrative duties, including logbooks and incident reports.
- Ensure environmental compliance and implement pollution prevention measures at all times.
Qualification
- Valid Master Mariner (Unlimited) License issued by a recognized maritime authority (USCG or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Ship Captain on deep-sea or ocean-going vessels.
- STCW certification including Advanced Firefighting, Medical Care, and GMDSS.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nautical Science, Maritime Transportation, or related field preferred.
- Proven track record of safe navigation, incident-free operations, and effective crew management.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and crisis management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities; fluency in English required.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, drug screening, and physical examination.
