Job Description

Responsibility

  • Assume overall command and responsibility for the vessel, crew, cargo, and passengers.
  • Ensure safe navigation and compliance with all maritime laws and regulations.
  • Manage and supervise crew members, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and implement voyage plans, considering weather, routes, and efficiency.
  • Maintain vessel certifications and ensure all safety equipment is operational.
  • Communicate with shore-based management, port authorities, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee cargo operations, including loading, stowing, and discharging.
  • Handle emergency situations and ensure contingency plans are in place.

Qualification

  • Valid USCG Master Mariner License (unlimited tonnage).
  • Minimum 10 years of maritime experience, with at least 5 years as Chief Officer or Captain.
  • STCW certification, including advanced training in safety and security.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and operational costs.
  • Familiarity with ISM code, SOLAS, MARPOL, and other international regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies or related field preferred.
