Responsibility
- Operate and maintain commercial fishing vessels including gear deployment, navigation, and safety protocols
- Execute sustainable fishing techniques targeting premium species like lobster, crab, and groundfish
- Monitor catch quality, sort species, and maintain optimal storage conditions
- Adhere to strict safety regulations and emergency response procedures
- Collaborate with crew to maximize efficiency and vessel performance
- Document catches and maintain compliance with fisheries management regulations
- Perform routine vessel maintenance and equipment troubleshooting
Qualification
- Minimum 3 years commercial fishing experience with proven track record
- Valid USCG Merchant Mariner Credential (6-Pack or higher)
- Strong knowledge of Gulf of Maine marine ecosystems and fishing grounds
- Certification in First Aid, CPR, and emergency at-sea procedures
- Ability to operate hydraulic winches, sorting equipment, and navigation systems
- Physical stamina for demanding 12-16 hour shifts in all weather conditions
- Commitment to sustainable fishing practices and regulatory compliance
- Valid commercial driver's license preferred
