Job Description
Alaskan Pride Fisheries is seeking experienced and motivated individuals to join our commercial fishing crew in the pristine waters of Kodiak Island, Alaska. As a deckhand, you will be an integral part of our operations, working in a dynamic team environment to harvest premium seafood. This is a seasonal full-time position offering competitive compensation, on-the-job training, and the opportunity to live and work in one of the most beautiful and remote parts of the world.
Our fleet is modern and well-maintained, and we prioritize safety and sustainability. We operate from May through September, with potential for extended seasons. Room and board provided while at sea.
Responsibility
- Assist in setting, pulling, and maintaining fishing nets and lines.
- Sort, clean, and store the catch following strict quality and safety standards.
- Maintain deck equipment, gear, and vessel cleanliness.
- Monitor weather conditions and assist with navigation as needed.
- Participate in safety drills and ensure compliance with all maritime regulations.
- Work closely with the captain and crew to ensure efficient and sustainable fishing operations.
- Perform routine vessel maintenance and repairs.
Qualification
- At least 2 years of experience in commercial fishing or similar maritime work.
- Valid Commercial Fishing License (or willingness to obtain).
- Completion of Basic Safety Training (STCW) preferred.
- Ability to work long hours in physically demanding conditions.
- Comfortable working at sea for extended periods (2-4 weeks).
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Valid passport and eligibility to work in the United States.
- Knowledge of fish handling and preservation techniques.
