Responsibility
- Operate and maintain fishing gear including gillnets, longlines, and traps
- Sort, process, and store catch following strict quality standards
- Assist the captain with navigation and vessel operations
- Conduct daily safety inspections and emergency drills
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs aboard the vessel
- Maintain accurate logs of catch data, weather, and equipment
- Collaborate with crew during all phases of fishing and docking
- Ensure compliance with all fishing regulations and sustainability practices
Qualification
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid USCG Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) or ability to obtain
- Prior commercial fishing experience strongly preferred
- Physical stamina and ability to work 12-16 hour shifts in demanding conditions
- Strong swimming skills and comfort in open water environments
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Willingness to spend extended periods at sea (up to 3 weeks)
- Basic Safety Training (STCW) & CPR certification a plus
