Responsibility

  • Deck Operations: Assist in the operation of trawling and longline fishing gear, including hauling nets, setting lines, and baiting hooks.
  • Catch Processing: Participate in the on-board sorting, cleaning, and processing of fish to ensure maximum quality and freshness.
  • Vessel Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness and mechanical integrity of the deck, rigging, and safety equipment.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to all US Coast Guard regulations, safety protocols, and emergency response procedures.
  • Navigational Support: Assist the skipper with navigation duties, including plotting courses and monitoring weather conditions.
  • Heavy Lifting: Perform rigorous physical tasks, including lifting heavy gear, moving crates, and standing for extended periods.

Qualification

  • Certification: Valid US Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) or equivalent fishing license.
  • Experience: Previous experience in commercial fishing, deckhand work, or marine construction preferred.
  • Physical Stamina: Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions and perform heavy physical labor for 12+ hour shifts.
  • Safety Training: Current certification in Basic Safety Training (BST) or STCW95 is a plus.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a high-pressure, close-knit team environment.
  • Valid Driver's License: Required for commuting to the port.
