Responsibility
- Operate commercial fishing vessels using modern gear including trawls, longlines, and pots
- Maintain and repair onboard equipment (hydraulics, winches, navigation systems)
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and emergency response procedures
- Process and harvest catch according to quality standards and quotas
- Collaborate with crew members for efficient deck operations and gear deployment
- Monitor weather conditions and adjust fishing strategies accordingly
- Document catches and maintain compliance with fisheries regulations
Qualification
- Minimum 2 years commercial fishing experience in Alaska waters
- Valid US Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (AB or DDE rating)
- Proficiency in vessel navigation and safety equipment operation
- Physical ability to perform strenuous tasks in harsh marine conditions
- Knowledge of sustainable fishing practices and local fisheries regulations
- Certification in First Aid, CPR, and survival at sea
- Ability to work 12-16 hour shifts in extreme weather conditions
- Strong teamwork skills and mechanical aptitude
