Responsibility
- Safely operate a Class A commercial vehicle in full compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and company safety standards.
- Transport general freight and specialized cargo within a 250-mile radius of Atlanta, ensuring on-time delivery performance.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, promptly reporting any defects or maintenance needs.
- Maintain precise logs and records utilizing electronic logging devices (ELDs) and fleet management software.
- Secure cargo using straps, chains, and load bars to prevent damage or shifting during transit.
- Communicate actively with dispatch and customer service to optimize routes and resolve delivery exceptions.
- Provide professional customer service at pick-up and drop-off locations, acting as a brand ambassador for Summit Point Logistics.
- Participate in monthly safety meetings and ongoing training programs to maintain peak performance standards.
Qualification
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A) with an exemplary safety record (no accidents or moving violations in the past 3 years).
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable over-the-road or local truck driving experience hauling trailers.
- Current DOT Medical Card.
- Hazmat and Tanker endorsements are highly desired but not required for employment.
- Must pass a comprehensive pre-employment background check and drug screening (hair follicle/urine).
- Ability to safely lift and maneuver freight up to 75 lbs and work in diverse weather conditions.
- Excellent time management, route planning, and GPS navigation skills.
- Proficiency with ELD systems and basic mobile device applications for delivery confirmation.
