Responsibility

  • Analyze public records, government data, and internal documents to uncover exclusive stories.
  • Write clear, compelling, and meticulously fact-checked articles adhering to AP style and editorial guidelines.
  • Collaborate with editors, videographers, data journalists, and designers on complex multimedia projects.
  • Cultivate and maintain a robust network of sources across assigned beats.
  • Adhere strictly to journalistic ethics, legal standards, and the organization's code of conduct.
  • Represent the organization at press conferences, court hearings, and public events.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5+ years of professional reporting experience in a daily or weekly news environment.
  • Proven track record of published investigative series, major features, or data-driven reports.
  • Complete mastery of AP style and experience with digital content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (Excel, Google Sheets, SQL, Datawrapper).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain high-level confidential sources.
  • Strong understanding of media law, including libel, privacy, and FOIA procedures.
