The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Investigative Journalist to join our flagship bureau in New York City. In this role, you will cover critical issues ranging from local governance and corporate accountability to international affairs. Your work will directly shape public discourse and drive meaningful change.

Responsibility
- Research, pitch, and produce high-impact investigative reports and long-form features.
- Conduct in-depth, sensitive interviews with sources, whistleblowers, and subject matter experts.
- Analyze public records, government data, and internal documents to uncover exclusive stories.
- Write clear, compelling, and meticulously fact-checked articles adhering to AP style and editorial guidelines.
- Collaborate with editors, videographers, data journalists, and designers on complex multimedia projects.
- Cultivate and maintain a robust network of sources across assigned beats.
- Adhere strictly to journalistic ethics, legal standards, and the organization's code of conduct.
- Represent the organization at press conferences, court hearings, and public events.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 5+ years of professional reporting experience in a daily or weekly news environment.
- Proven track record of published investigative series, major features, or data-driven reports.
- Complete mastery of AP style and experience with digital content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (Excel, Google Sheets, SQL, Datawrapper).
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain high-level confidential sources.
- Strong understanding of media law, including libel, privacy, and FOIA procedures.
