Responsibility
- Research, pitch, and write in-depth investigative articles that expose critical issues and hold power to account.
- Conduct interviews with sources, experts, and community members to gather accurate and diverse perspectives.
- Analyze data sets, public records, and proprietary documents to uncover patterns and corroborate findings.
- Collaborate with editors, photographers, and multimedia teams to produce visually rich, interactive stories.
- Adhere strictly to ethical guidelines, fact-checking standards, and legal requirements in all reporting.
- Meet deadlines consistently while managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Engage with readers through social media and public events to foster community dialogue and story development.
- Continuously develop expertise in assigned beats and contribute fresh story ideas during editorial meetings.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of professional reporting experience, with a proven track record of published investigative work.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong digital literacy, including proficiency with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Python) and content management systems.
- Demonstrated ability to uncover exclusive stories using public records requests, database research, and networking.
- Experience with multimedia storytelling (video, audio, data visualization) is a strong plus.
- Deep understanding of media law, ethics, and the responsibility of the press in a democratic society.
