Responsibility
- Research, write, and edit clear, accurate, and engaging news stories and features for print and digital platforms.
- Conduct interviews with sources, verify facts, and maintain high journalistic standards.
- Cover events on-site and remotely, including press conferences, community gatherings, and investigative assignments.
- Collaborate with editors, photographers, and multimedia producers to produce multimedia-rich content.
- Optimize articles for SEO, using appropriate keywords, meta descriptions, and internal linking.
- Manage social media accounts to promote stories and interact with the audience.
- Meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality and adhering to AP Style guidelines.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of professional journalism experience, preferably in a daily newsroom.
- Proven portfolio of published articles demonstrating investigative, feature, and breaking-news reporting.
- Strong investigative and interviewing skills, with the ability to uncover and verify information.
- Proficiency in AP Style and content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Squarespace).
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple assignments simultaneously.
