Harvest & Hearth is a modern farm-to-table restaurant located in the heart of San Francisco's culinary district. We are seeking an experienced Executive Chef to lead our kitchen, drive menu innovation, and uphold the highest standards of food quality and guest satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with the front-of-house team, suppliers, and senior management to deliver an unforgettable dining experience that reflects our commitment to sustainability, seasonality, and creativity.
Responsibility
- Develop and execute seasonal menus that highlight local, organic ingredients and reflect the restaurant's culinary vision.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse kitchen staff of 15+ cooks, line cooks, and prep cooks, fostering a culture of teamwork and excellence.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations, conducting regular inspections and trainings.
- Oversee inventory management, procurement, and cost control to maintain target food cost percentages.
- Collaborate with the management team on marketing events, special promotions, and guest experience initiatives.
- Maintain kitchen equipment, schedule maintenance, and implement best practices for energy efficiency.
- Continuously monitor food quality and presentation, making adjustments as needed to exceed guest expectations.
Qualification
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a high-volume, upscale dining environment, with at least 2 years in an executive or head chef role.
- Comprehensive knowledge of culinary techniques, flavor profiles, and menu costing.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with a proven ability to motivate and develop kitchen teams.
- ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification required.
- Experience with inventory management systems and vendor negotiations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Degree in Culinary Arts or a related field is preferred.
- Passion for sustainable, locally sourced ingredients and environmental responsibility.
