Responsibility
- Operate fishing vessels and deck equipment including winches, nets, and hydraulic systems
- Execute fishing operations according to seasonal migration patterns and quotas
- Maintain vessel cleanliness, safety gear, and emergency equipment
- Handle catch sorting, icing, and storage to maintain quality standards
- Adhere to all US Coast Guard regulations and sustainable fishing practices
- Perform routine vessel maintenance and minor repairs at sea
- Collaborate with crew to optimize fishing efficiency and safety
Qualification
- Minimum 2 years commercial fishing experience with North Atlantic species
- Valid US Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (AB or equivalent)
- STCW Basic Safety Training certification
- Proficiency in navigation equipment and vessel systems
- Physical ability to work in harsh marine environments
- Knowledge of federal fishing regulations and quota management
- Strong teamwork and communication skills under pressure
- Ability to lift heavy loads (up to 70 lbs) and work extended shifts
