Responsibility
- Operate commercial fishing vessels safely in Atlantic waters
- Maintain and repair fishing equipment (nets, gear, hydraulics)
- Adhere to strict federal fishing quotas and sustainability practices
- Process and preserve catches onboard to maintain quality
- Navigate using GPS and marine electronics
- Monitor weather and sea conditions for safe operations
- Collaborate with crew to maximize efficiency and safety
Qualification
- Minimum 3 years commercial fishing experience
- Valid US Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC)
- Strong knowledge of marine safety protocols
- Ability to work physically demanding 12+ hour shifts
- Experience with hydraulic systems and deck machinery
- Commercial fishing boat handling expertise
- Understanding of NOAA fisheries regulations
- Basic first aid and CPR certification
